Building community with an unconventional style.
It all began in January 2009 with my friend Brandon, whose remarkable social gatherings introduced me to a new way of connecting. He brought together friends, acquaintances, and even total strangers. When he eventually moved away, I realized that I wanted to keep this vibrant, community-driven spirit alive.
I began hosting my own free gatherings, inviting everyone—friends, friends of friends, and newcomers alike—into my home to enjoy creative, interactive experiences. For over a decade, I continued organizing these events, building a supportive community centered around imagination and togetherness. While commonly misunderstood, these were the farthest thing from "house parties."
More recently, I experimented with running commercial events, but they lacked the authenticity and warmth I’d come to love. What you’ll find here are descriptions of the unique, welcoming experiences I once hosted—celebrations of art, play, mystery, and the joy of bringing people together.

Events & Activities
From communal art sessions to adventurous darkness, culinary experiments, and beyond.
Communal Canvas Art Night
Communal Canvas Art Night brings people together to unleash their inner artist, whether they’re experienced painters or simply curious newcomers. Set to an uplifting soundtrack, participants are grouped into teams of four or five and take turns adding brushstrokes to a shared canvas. Every twenty minutes, painters rotate to a new canvas, resulting in spontaneous, evolving masterpieces.
At the event’s end, everyone interprets the finished works. Names go into bowls beneath each canvas, and if yours is drawn, you take that collaborative artwork home! This night celebrates collective creativity, leaving guests with unforgettable memories and a piece of community-crafted art.

Dark Techno Hide & Seek
Inspired by a spontaneous moment on a couch in Kamloops, Dark Techno Hide & Seek involves resetting your night vision in a bright room before the lights cut out and the music pounds. Hiders disperse into pitch-black spaces, relying on stealth and silence. The seeker’s challenge? To gently tag players before time runs out—no running, no bright screens, just heightened senses and heart-pounding suspense.
Each round is a thrilling test of nerves and cunning. When caught, you surrender your “life” token and return to the starting point. Taking turns as seeker and hider, everyone dives into this immersive, sensory-rich game, forging unforgettable bonds in the darkness.

Hikes
Over 1,000 free public hikes forged friendships across continents. Starting in Kamloops and traveling worldwide, these hikes fostered connections through shared passion for nature, fitness, and exploration. Before AllTrails existed, I documented routes, provided GPS maps, and created the region’s most comprehensive hiking resource.
Recognized by Western Living magazine and local news, these hikes were never just “hangouts.” They had purpose: encouraging health, camaraderie, and meaningful friendships born on winding trails and breathtaking vistas.

Murder Mysteries
Step into a fully immersive, play-at-home murder mystery. Guests arrive in character, the décor matches the theme, and the atmosphere crackles with hidden motives and shifting alliances. Bribe suspects for clues with play money, and watch as even the actors remain uncertain of the true villain until the final reveal.
Awards honor the best acting, costumes, and cunning strategies. These aren’t just games, but theatrical events, plunging everyone into a world of suspense and delight, right in your own living room.

Pirate’s Bounty Escape Room
My home transformed into epic escape rooms—none more legendary than “Pirate’s Bounty: Quest for the Blackheart Skull.” Shipwrecked teams navigated hidden passages, solved riddles, and raced against a ghostly curse on a windswept island. Alliances were forged, secrets guarded, and as the clock ticked down, friendships tested their wits to reclaim lost treasures.
From virus labs to escapes from hell and playful scavenger hunts, each adventure was handcrafted. CBC even featured Pirate’s Bounty!

Spontaneous Cook Night
Spontaneous Cook Night united friends, acquaintances, and newcomers in a culinary adventure. Initially, all groceries were free—just show up, pick a recipe, and partner up. Over time, guests could chip in, but it was never mandatory.
Laughter and learning filled the kitchen as cooks swapped tips, discovered new flavors, and raced to finish dishes. The tardiest two guests washed up instead of cooking! Family-friendly and inviting, these evenings highlighted the magic of gathering around food and creativity.

Stone Grill
My home once served as a casual gathering spot for cooking exotic meats on granite grilling stones—snake, crocodile, kangaroo, and beyond! Guests brought their own cuts, seasoning on the fly while exchanging tips and techniques. We’d laugh about unusual flavors, wonder if we’d trip a breaker, and sometimes set off the smoke alarm.
This low-key, adventurous atmosphere transformed cooking into an exploration of global flavors, forging friendships over sizzling stones and daring cuisine.
